Can CBD affect the thyroid negatively?
Asked 3 years ago
If I have a perfectly healthy thyroid, can CBD lead to conditions such as hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's thyroiditis? In addition, can it worsen these conditions if they already exist?

Usually, side effects of CBD on the thyroid occurs due to drug interactions. CBD inhibits the enzymes that metabolise most thyroid drugs and interaction is due to competition for metabolism. This may result in excess of this drug in the body which may be detrimental to thyroid health. To avoid this, see a doctor before taking cbd and thyroid medications.
