Can I take CBD oil while being on Citalopram or other antidepressants?

Are there drug-drug interactions between CBD oil and antidepressants like citalopram? How bad are the effects?

Studies have shown that both CBD and citalopram are metabolised by the same enzyme in the liver, and so there could be potentially dangerous interactions between the two as the slower rate at which the citalopram is being metabolised could result in more of the substance remaining in the bloodstream for longer periods.
So, as to the question of whether you can take CBD oil with antidepressants like citalopram? You probably shouldn't as it could worsen the side effects of the citalopram if not given enough time in between doses. Check with your doctor for more information.

Using CBD along with antidepressants could lead to some side effects in the body, making it not a wise option. CBD could speed up the breakdown drugs like antidepressants and as a result, the latter's potent decreases. If you take high dosages of CBD, then it should be enough to fight depression. Consulting your doctor would be a better idea.
