How can CBD help treat hypothyroidism?
Asked 3 years ago
I've heard it has something to do with the anti-inflammatory properties of CBD, what about any other reasons? Can CBD oil be used to help and, potentially cure, hypothyroidism due to Hashimoto's disease?

Unfortunately, more research is needed to truly determine the effectiveness of using CBD oil to cure hypothyroidism and Hashimoto's disease. Researchers believe that the cannabinoid receptors in your thyroid would benefit from CBD and give your body an easier time regulating the hormone release, though this isn't known for sure.
Where CBD can help for Hashimoto's disease and hyperthyroidism is in its anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties.

Research has shown a significant relationship between the endocannabinoid system and the thyroid gland; and that CB1 and CB2 receptors are present in the thyroid. When CBD is taken, it helps the body release it naturally occurring cannabinoids. According to research, these cannabinoids can help regulate the functions of the thyroid gland via the CB1 and CB2 receptors.
