Can I use CBD oil for Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR)?
Asked 4 years ago
After getting my PMR diagnosis, it's been a constant battle, and I'm tired of constantly having to take painkillers and anti-inflammatory medication. Is CBD oil a good treatment for PMR?

Polymyalgia Rheumatica (PMR) is an inflammatory disorder that causes pain and stiffness in the muscles, particularly in the shoulder, hips, neck and thighs. PMR is more common in the older age groups (particularly those over the age of 65) and in women.
CBD oil is known to have Anti-inflamatory property. That is why it has received great reviews from those treating Polymyalgia Rheumatica. This anti inflammatory property is also recognised by those suffering from Rheumatoid arthritis. CBD oil is also considered as an analgesic. This is why it relieves the pain felt by those suffering from PMR.
Although there is not enough studies on CBD Oil, some medical papers have approved its potency. CBD enhances the body to use more of its own cannabinoids that are present in the Endocannabinoid system naturally. This naturally occurring cannabinoid helps to reduce pain and inflammation.
CBD acts by activating the CB1 and CB2 receptors, enhancing the use of naturally occurring cannabinoid in the Endocannabinoid system. This mechanism is the secret of action of the CBD oil.
CBD oil, based on recent research has been said to have no illicit properties. It has also been stated in some recent medical papers that CBD has less or no side effects compared to most drugs prescribed for PMR. These side effects may include diabetes, osteoporosis, weight loss. If you have been experiencing any of these side effects then you may have more reasons to try CBD. However, I will like to state again that there isn't enough evidence to back up these researches.
In conclusion, while there isn't enough papers and researches on the efficacy and safety of CBD oil, it is well worth a try. You could combine CBD balms and a good full spectrum oil. This should provide some relief.

The first thing doctors usually prescribe for this is physical therapy exercises meant to help with symptoms of PMR, but this doesn't always work.
Seeing as the condition is inflammatory in nature, you might have some luck using CBD oil in conjunction with other methods to assist with symptoms of polymyalgia rheumatica, both ingested and as a topical cream rubbed into the inflamed areas.

With many types of pain one can experience, chronic pain and discomfort are common with senior citizens. Some individuals have an even agonizing experience with PMR. This inflammation issue is prevalent in people over the '50s all over the world. As it is an inflammation disorder, CBD may be used in managing this condition. For many years, humans have utilized this compound to reduce the intensity of chronic pain.
How can CBD oil help with PMR
Although prescription drugs were issued to manage this disorder, there was a need to introduce an alternative remedy with less or no side effects. Scientific studies suggested CBD may have the potential to manage PMR.
CBD properties that make it effective in Managing PMR
Its an anti-inflammatory
CBD may bind to CB1 receptors in your brain. The receptor plays a vital role in managing inflammation. The CBD triggers your body system to produce natural cannabinoids. These endocannabinoids are responsible for reducing inflammation in your body.
Pain-relieving property
CBD offers a natural pain-relieving property. CBD interacts with primary components of your endocannabinoid system(ECS)- receptors in your brain and immune system. The receptors receive chemical signals from stimuli and assist your cells to react. This response creates a pain-relieving effect that assists in managing pain.
Although many people have been using CBD in managing pain caused by PMR, there is still much research required to discover its full potential. It's advisable that you visit your physician to learn about the correct dosage and probable side effects you might experience.
