What is Indica, and does it help with insomnia?
Asked 3 years ago
I have been struggling with insomnia for some time and have been told that I should give Indica a try. Can someone tell me what it is, if it does indeed help, and where I can find some?

There are two primary strains of marijuana. Indica strains are associated with the body, meaning relaxation and easing of stress. Sativa strains are associated with the mind, meaning more energy and focus derived from mental stimulation.
It is commonly accepted that most indica substrains will assist with insomnia by relaxing you. However, it's important to note that taking too much will have the opposite effect and keep you awake. Even though the two primary strains have different primary effects, they both stimulate the body and mind, just to different degrees.
It's also important to note that hemp cannabis products that are high in THC are illegal in most parts of the world. If you happen to live in a place where it's not then you shouldn't have difficulty finding a place that sells cannabis. You can just walk into the shop and ask them for an indica strain and they should be able to help you.
If cannabis is illegal where you live, then fear not because most places allow the sale of CBD products that are low in THC. THC, or tetrahydrocannabinol, is the psychoactive compound in cannabis that leads to the "high" that people associate with marijuana. CBD, or cannabidiol, is the non-psychoactive compound that is associated with the benefits of cannabis, such as easing symptoms of insomnia.
Luckily, there are reputable companies all over the world that will sell CBD products. If you can't find any near you, then you should be able to order online. Just be sure to check whether or not your country allows the possession and use of CBD products first.
