SHIITAKE
Shiitake mushrooms are known to have a diverse array of micronutrients, including B- vitamins, Phosphorus, Selenium, Potassium, and Magnesium, as well as health-promoting Polysaccharides, all of which have been shown to help reduce the severity of acne and related skin problems.
Notable B-vitamins found in Shiitake include Niacinamide (Vitamin B3) and Pantothenic acid (Vitamin B5). Niacinamide- a super-nutrient for the skin, helps reduce inflammation and irritation and regulates oil production, whilst keeping your skin hydrated. Pantothenic acid binds to moisture molecules in the skin, thereby aiding in moisture retention. Vit B5 also provides anti-inflammatory support which may help reduce inflammation, irritation, and redness in the skin, associated with Acne.
Shiitake mushrooms are also rich in antioxidant L-ergothioneine, which helps prevent inflammatory cell damage seen in Acne.
Shiitake is also a good source of Kojic acid, used to brighten the skin and reduce hyperpigmentation that may occur with acne scars.
REISHI
Reishi mushrooms are a nutrient powerhouse, full of skin-loving compounds such as Polysaccharides, Amino acids, Zinc, Copper, Iodine, and Selenium.
Reishi mushrooms also contain two of the most powerful antioxidants, namely ergothioneine and reduced glutathione, thereby providing protection from oxidative damage associated with inflammation and skin irritation, commonly seen in Acne.
Certain compounds in Reishi inhibit a melanin-producing enzyme called tyrosinase, which may then help reduce skin pigmentation and discoloration associated with Acne related scarring.
ENOKI
Enoki mushrooms provide a plethora of nutrients such as antioxidants (incl. ergothioneine), B-vitamins, copper, selenium, and amino acids (valine, lysine), which have all been shown to fight off free radicals from environmental toxins, support immunity, reduce inflammation, and thus promote wound healing and skin health.
TURKEY TAIL
Turkey tail’s potent beta-glucans content makes this one of the most acclaimed Immune-modulating, medicinal mushrooms to date.
Turkey Tail is also packed with antioxidants which help to lower/prevent damage caused by oxidative stress, resulting in cellular damage and chronic inflammation.
Turkey tail is also an excellent source of pre-biotics, which aid the growth of good bacteria in the gut and thus support healthy digestion.
By providing Immune, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and digestive support, Turkey tail is able to aid in the management of skin problems such as Acne.
CBD
In addition to providing potent antioxidant and anti-inflammatorily support, CBD is known to activate and so help regulate the functioning of the Endocannabinoid system in the skin, referred to as the Cutaneous Endocannabinoid system.
By aiding this system, CBD may support balanced, healthy functioning, immunity, and stability of the skin cells, thereby reducing the risk of developing any skin-related issues, such as Acne.
Recent research has also shown that CBD inhibits sebocytes (oil-producing cell) proliferation, thereby lowering the amount of sebum (oil) the skin produces, which may help diminish the appearance and severity of Acne.
