The Recommended Starting CBD Dosage for Anxiety
The starting dose of CBD for anxiety is universal. The real challenge is finding the right ending dose too. We'll explain both.
Published August 30, 2021.
CBD dosing for anxiety is the same as with any other condition. Because of how little we know about CBD and so many biological factors influencing dosage, it's impossible to have a set starting dose.
But don't worry, it's easy to find the right amount.
Start Low and Go Slow
The starting CBD dosage for anxiety should be low, and this applies to most people that haven't been prescribed CBD oil by a doctor. That's because CBD behaves differently than common sense dictates.
CBD is biphasic, meaning it eventually reaches a point where higher doses are less effective than low ones. You can't just consume 500 mg of CBD and hope it'll help you pass out. There's a dosage "sweet spot."
Unfortunately, nobody knows what that sweet spot is as it's different for everybody. You have to slowly judge that for yourself by gradually building up the dose every week. But keep in mind that some people report waiting almost a month before they notice any difference. Don't worry if this happens, because your body also needs to get used to the new supplement.
CBD Oil Dosage for Anxiety
We only have a handful of human studies about CBD oil for anxiety. Sample sizes are small and the experiments often leave room for bias or error.
For example, one 2018 study in the Brazillian Journal of Psychiatry arrived at a number of 300 mg. Granted, this was a very small sample. Does this mean you need 300 mg of CBD for anxiety? Not at all. It's important to mention the study used CBD isolate - the least effective form of CBD available.
Unfortunately, we mostly rely on anecdotal evidence and there is no "best doses of CBD" for depression or anxiety. If you try to Google the dose, expect to find recommendations ranging from 10 to 80 mg per day. These numbers are subjective and arbitrary. The only way to know the right CBD oil dosage for anxiety is through gradual trial and error.
Conclusion
The CBD dose for anxiety or any other symptom is impossible to predict. You need to start with a minimal dose and work your way up over the course of several weeks. This approach prevents you from overshooting your dosage "sweet spot." It requires patience, but the rewards are worth it.
