MCT (medium-chain triglycerides) are small molecules of fat that are easily absorbed into your bloodstream. It's a pure form of fat - very similar to olive oil or canola oil - and is extracted from coconut oil or palm kernel oil.
MCT as a Carrier Oil
MCT oil is often used as a carrier oil in CBD products because it helps the CBD to be directly absorbed into the bloodstream by bypassing the normal digestive process. Thanks to this, a greater concentration of CBD can now be absorbed more efficiently.
Not only does the oil facilitate better absorption of CBD, but it is also a beneficial supplement in itself. Therefore, by taking CBD products prepared with MCT, you get the benefits of CBD plus a good dose of essential fatty acids. MCT is also known to have anti-bacterial properties, promote healthy skin, and enhance cognition.
While it is regarded as a healthy food supplement, people with diabetes or liver diseases should avoid it. If you can't take MCT oil, try a CBD product with a different carrier oil such as hemp seed oil.
