I know that Turkey Tail, and other mushrooms in general, have been used to help alleviate the side effects of cancer, but can it be used as a preventative measure?

There is no real evidence that proves this yet. However, research has shown that Turkey tail may have properties that help prevent tumours. A particular test-tube study discovered that due to the presence of a polypeptide called Krestin, Turkey tail can help prevent the growth of human colon cancer.
