Does Lion's Mane have benefits for people with Alzheimer's disease?
Asked 3 years ago
My father was recently diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease, and we are looking into a natural remedy to benefit him and mitigate some of his symptoms. What we do know is that Alzheimer's disease is caused by amyloid plaques which damage neural tissue. Can Lions Mane do anything to combat this? One of our main goals is to help combat his symptoms of memory loss? Is this one of the benefits of Lion's Mane mushrooms?

Preclinical studies on Lion's mane and Alzhemeirs disease suggest that the mushroom may reduce inflammation and amyloid plaques which are biological markers of the disease. It has also been suggested that Lion's mane can promote growth of the axon and dendrites of neurons. This growth can potentially slow or reverse cell degeneration in people with Alzhemeir's disease.
