Is shiitake mushroom extract the same as AHCC?
Asked 3 years ago
I saw an article called "AHCC vs mushroom supplements" and I'm a bit confused because I thought AHCC WAS a mushroom supplement. Does it matter what kind of medicinal mushroom is used to make AHCC, and if so, then how does AHCC made from shiitake mushroom differ from other mushrooms?

Yes, the AHCC or Active Hexose Correlated Compound extract comes from shiitake mushroom, and they can be purchased as supplements. So, shiitake mushroom extract is the same as AHCC. It certainly matters where it comes from because AHCC with shiitake mushroom extract in it has several proven benefits, making it an incredible natural supplement.

AHCC's full form is an active hexose correlated compound, and it comes from the species of mushrooms called basidiomycetes. Shiitake mushroom is one such type of mushroom that falls under the category of basidiomycetes, giving you AHCC. Taking AHCC supplements has many benefits like preventing cell damage, helping to fight cancer and improving the immunity system. Therefore, instead of taking AHCC supplements, you can take Shiitake mushrooms, which would provide your body AHCC naturally.
