Are Delta-8 or Delta-9 THC legal in the UK?

Currently, in the UK (and most places around the world), cannabis or marijuana that contains THC is illegal. delta-8 and delta-9 THC vary slightly in their chemical makeup and degree of effect, and this creates a gray area as there is no definitive ruling for the legality of delta-8 THC in the UK. However, due to the fact that the psychoactive effects of the two substances are similar, one would expect delta-8 THC to be just as prohibited as delta-9 THC.

Delta 9 THC for non-medical purposes is illegal, and CBD products should contain less than 0.02℅ of Delta 9 THC. For Delta 8, the UK government's 'Drug licensing factsheet ' is quite silent about it. It doesn't also come under 'exempt product' or 'controlled substance.' Hence, it is unclear if Delta 8 is illegal in the UK.
