Is it legal to grow CBD hemp seeds if there is low THC count?

I kind of want to grow and try eating it as a salad. Is this even legal, and how effective would it be?

In the United Kingdom, it is completely illegal to grow CBD products on your own regardless of the THC percentage in it. You can only grow it for commercial purposes and might have to take special permission. Since it is not legal at the moment, it is better to refrain from growing it.
