Is persistent coughing after vaping CBD a dangerous sign?

To elaborate, I don't vape nicotine but I do smoke cigarettes. Thought vaping CBD might be good for me but it induces coughing fits that last a while. Sometimes I find myself coughing the day after vaping still, and it's not like I'm constantly vaping. It's weird because whereas coughing from CBD vs nicotine is concerned, I don't really cough more than usual for a cigarette smoker unless I've been vaping. Should I stop?
