Is a goopy and snotty throat after drinking lion's mane powder in my coffee an inflammatory reaction?
Asked 3 years ago
I’ve been using lions mane and chaga powders in my coffee in the morning. Didn’t notice how goopy/snotty my throat would get until after I ran out of lions mane, and was noticeably not goopy while just using the chaga. Bought a new brand, thinking maybe it was a brand thing. Nope, still goopy after lions mane. I am using it for its affinity for helping the nervous system (I have some stuff going on) between lion's mane mushrooms and libido. But am wondering if that’s an inflammatory reaction? Could I have a slight sensitivity to LM? That’d super suck. Anyone else have similar experiences? Side note, I also noticed that my dreams are more vivid on lion's mane mushrooms, which is surprising.

Most trials with Lion's Mane have been on animals, not humans, so the side effects are not fully documented. However, in animal trials even high doses did not cause any adverse effects. So it is possible you are having an allergic reaction. Like so many other people, you might be allergic to mushrooms.
