Can I use CBD oil topically to help heal scars?

Asked 3 years ago

I am currently taking CBD oil orally to soothe general inflammation in my mouth. I was wondering if it’s safe to use topically as well? More specifically, are CBD lotions containing CBD oil good for scars?

Yes, you can use CBD oil topically, so long as you don't put it on open wounds. You can also get CBD products that are specifically made for applying directly to the skin. CBD users across the world use CBD balms, salves, creams, and lotions for their skin.

Topical CBD lotions and oils may help ease skin irritations, acne scars, redness, psoriasis, eczema, and reduce inflammation of the skin. It won't make scares completely disappear, but CBD could help improve the overall appearance of your scars.

CBD topicals can potentially reduce the appearance of scars, ease inflammation, and promote the skin's healing process. You'll get a better result if you start applying CBD topicals to fresh scars(not fresh wounds). The older the scars get the harder it is to make any improvement. You have nothing to lose and a lot to gain by trying CBD topical products on your scars!

CBD can be used topically in the forms of lotion, creams, balms etc. The skin is part of the Endocannabinoid system and can respond to CBD in the same way as other organs, which are part of the Endocannabinoid system.

In terms of treating scars, CBD can help stop the spread and growth of dead cells and help skin cells to regenerate. Collagen fibres are responsible for producing scars, CBD helps to regulate the production of these collagen fibres, and this can help toto reduce the formation of scars.

Using CBD topically has its advantages. Bioavailability is the ability of the body to absorb a particular CBD product into the bloodstream. Even though using CBD topicals does not provide high bioavailability, it allows for concentration of CBD in the area where it is applied. Hence, if the pain is concentrated in one area, it is advised you use topicals instead.

Taking CBD orally means the CBD will first have to be absorbed into the bloodstream, before spreading thinly around the body. Taking CBD as topicals is safe, and it is the best option if you are treating a disorder that is concentrated in one area. I
