Is Reishi mushroom good for asthma?
Asked 3 years ago
Are there benefits aside from the anti-inflammatory properties of Reishi mushrooms that could assist with lung diseases and breathing conditions? Someone told me that Lingzhi was also a type of Reishi mushroom that was beneficial for lung diseases like asthma, bronchitis, and COPD, but how true is this?

Reishi mushrooms (Ganoderma lucidum) are loved for their supposed wide variety of benefits with relatively low side effects. Their adaptogenic properties assist in stress and fatigue, it reduces inflammation, blood pressure, and cholesterol, and it may also improve oxygen utilisation and lung function in individuals who suffer from asthma, COPD, and many other respiratory illnesses.
However, it's important to note that this medicinal mushroom is only recently popularising the western world, and so there isn't much definitive evidence that states Reishi mushrooms being good for asthma. There is lots of anecdotal evidence, and some scientific evidence, so it's really up to you to figure out if it works or not.
