Does CBD oil interact with medication for high cholesterol?
Asked 3 years ago
If it helps, I recently started taking Atorvastatin (Lipitor) for my high LDL cholesterol and want to know if taking CBD could have any bad interactions? What would the side effects of taking CBD and cholesterol medications be? Also, is CBD oil good for high cholesterol?

Although there isn't much definitive research to state that CBD oil does or does not interact with high cholesterol medication, CBD has been shown to interact with most drugs due to the fact that they are all metabolized by the liver, and CBD is an enzyme inhibitor. It's safe to assume that you should be wary when using CBD with any medications and always check with your doctor first.
Additionally, CBD may be good for high cholesterol as it has been reported to effectively regulate lipid uptake and blood pressure.

CBD has a lot of benefits, and it might also increase the level of good cholesterol in the body. Even though there is no conclusive evidence yet, some studies say CBD might not gel well with medications for high cholesterol, especially in the long-term. It might lead to adverse side effects that are unwanted. It is better to avoid taking both of them together.

Yes, taking CBD with statins can increase the concentration of Statins in your body. CBD inhibits enzymes that break down Statins in the body, and this will lead to high levels of statins in the blood.
A high level of cholesterol can build up on the walls of your artery. CBD can help by reducing inflammation and improving blood flow, according to studies.
