What is sleep debt?
Asked 2 years ago
Hello all. I've been feeling unusually tired for a while, and couldn't figure out why. A friend told me it might be due to sleep debt, as my work schedule has changed, meaning I've been getting up about 2 hours earlier than I am used to. But what is sleep debt, and how does it work? How much sleep debt is okay?

There is an amount of sleep that is considered adequate for every person. This depends on their age, lifestyle and health status. Sleep debt occurs when you are consistently getting lesser sleep than your body needs to function optimally. Over time, it can lead to fatigue, altered mood, and difficulty concentrating. Once this happens, you need to repay your sleep debt or it would only get worse from there.
