How does sleep debt impact your cognitive abilities?
Asked 2 years ago
The thing is, I've been slightly forgetful for some time now, and my husband thinks it's due to sleep debt. I haven't had any noticeable issues at work, it's just that I keep forgetting small things, like grocery items, for example. I do admit it's sometimes hard for me to stay focused, like when we're watching a movie together, but I feel like that's normal. I don't feel like I'm sleep-deprived, but I might be wrong.
So, my question is: can sleep debt affect your ability to do everyday tasks?

When you are sleep-deprived, you lose the ability to focus, react quickly, and cannot make the best decisions. It may also affect your ability to recall information and learn new things. Sleep deprivation can also cause mood disturbances such as irritability, anxiety, and depression, which further impair your cognitive function.
