What are your experiences of taking Lion's Mane before going to bed?
Asked 3 years ago
I've heard a lot of claims that taking Lion's mane mushrooms before bed can help with insomnia and other sleep-related disorders, but how true is this? What are the chances of me overdosing on Lion's mane?

First of all, studies report that Lion's mane and its extracts are pretty safe, even at high doses, so your risk of overdose is extremely low. However, there are some reported allergenic compounds that certain individuals might have to watch out for. So if you are allergic to mushrooms, avoid Lion's mane.
Secondly, although Lion's mane might not directly impact your ability to fall asleep with insomnia, there are a number of health benefits that could indirectly lead to better sleep quality, such as a decrease to anxiety, inflammation, and oxidative stress. If you want to have the best results, consider taking Lion's mane and CBD oil together.

Studies show that Lion's mane can calm some possible causes of Insomnia like anxiety and depression, but there is no evidence of how it can affect Insomnia directly. On dosing, there is no reported dose of Lion's mane yet. The suggestion is that anything above 2500 mg of 96% purity extract can result in overdosing.
