How can I manage jet lag and maintain a healthy sleep schedule?

My cousin is planning a big family vacation next month, and it involves a lot of travelling by plane. I tend to struggle with jet lag, so I wanted to ask if anybody has some advice. How can I reduce the negative effects of jet lag? What do I do if I can't sleep after? I appreciate all the help.

Jet lag is normal when you travel across time zones. but to reduce the negative effects, you may;

  1. Try to adjust your sleep schedule gradually ahead of the trip to suit the new time zone you are heading to.
  2. Drink plenty of water before, during, and after the flight.
  3. Take short naps to reduce fatigue and keep you feeling sharp.
  4. Get under some natural light as soon as you get to your destination as it helps to reset your internal clock.
