How much scientific evidence is there that CBD helps with Thyroiditis?

Asked 3 years ago

I'm asking about specific concrete evidence, not assumptions based on belief. I want authentic, peer-reviewed studies. I also don't really mind want conditions of thyroiditis they looked at, just the evidence that CBD might be good for thyroid health. Whether it's the CBD oil benefits for Hashimoto's disease, hypothyroidism, or hyperthyroidism doesn't matter.

The scientific evidence of CBD oil benefitting thyroid health directly is quite scarce, but some researchers theorise that it might help as a result of cannabinoid receptors in the thyroid gland that, when interacting with CBD, can perform optimally and better regulate the thyroid hormone release.

Most scientific evidence suggests that CBD instead can present a variety of other benefits, such as anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties that may help indirectly with the treatment of various thyroid disorders.

A 2015 study pointed out that there is a significant amount of CBD receptors in the thyroid gland. This shows a relationship between the endocannabinoid system and the thyroid. There is a chance that via this relationship, CBD can block the spread of malignant cells on the thyroid gland or even regulate its activities. However, this isn't enough evidence. More research had to be done on this subject
