How does hormone replacement therapy on joint pain during menopause?

Asked 2 years ago

Hello all

I've recently entered menopause, and with it, I've started experiencing some joint pain. My doctor says it's normal and tends to happen due to the drop in estrogen levels. However, I am used to living a fairly active lifestyle, which is now being affected, so he recommended I try hormone replacement therapy.

Does anybody have experience with it? Has HRT helped you with joint pain? Thank you for answering.

Generally, oestrogen limits inflammation and protects the joints by keeping them lubricated. When the oestrogen level drops during menopause, inflammation and the risk of osteoporosis and osteoarthritis increase in the body. Consequently, HRT effectively reduces joint pain since it buffers the levels of oestrogen hormones in the body.
