Does using CBD oil help with Type 2 Diabetes?
Asked 2 years ago
I suffer from Type 2 Diabetes and I am looking for ways to control my blood sugar levels. Is using CBD oil suitable for this? Are there any other benefits that CBD oil has for those with Type 2 Diabetes?

There is no specific research saying that CBD oil helps with blood sugar levels in type 2 diabetes. The only research so far is in type 1 diabetes and the issues there are very different. Where CBD oil has helped in diabetes is with people suffering neuropathic pain. It has lowered the neuropathic pain when taken regularly. There is some anecdotal evidence (e.g. physicians reporting what individual patients say and patients self-reporting) that for some CBD oil can help with blood sugar management because it decreases the cortisol response. At least one diabetes specialist has said that in patients whose blood sugar is not well controlled using CBD oil as an adjunct treatment may have some benefits. There is one study (a small one that was done in the UK with 62 people) that found that compound with both CBD and THC had some effect on blood glucose in type 2 diabetics but that CBD alone did not.
It remains important to remember that CBD oil should not be used in place of prescribed medications in diabetes or other diagnosed medical conditions and that CBD is not regulated so it is important to use reputable sources to get CBD oil that is of high quality and where the dosage stated equals the dosage in the actual product.
