Is the damage from sleep deprivation permanent?

Can the lack of sleep permanently affect your body in some way, or would it be reversible?

Sleep deprivation can lead to long term damage in the body, and sometimes it could lead to permanent damage. Severe damages like heart attack, stroke, and diabetes could happen due to sleep deprivation. But experts have claimed that it could also lead to permanent brain damage and neuro problems at any age.
