What foods should I avoid before bedtime?
Asked 2 years ago
I've been struggling with falling asleep for a while now, and my wife thinks it may be due to my eating habits. I admit I like to snack a bit before bedtime, mostly while watching TV. It's a comforting "ritual" of a kind, but I agree it's not the healthiest. She thinks I should at least switch to healthier food options.
So, I need to ask - what should I avoid eating before bedtime? And while we're on the topic, are there any foods that can actually improve sleep? Thanks.

Foods with a high water content, sugary treats, spicy meals, heavy meals, and energy drinks should be avoided before you go to bed at night. Alcohol-based drinks and caffeinated drinks should also be avoided. Instead, you can opt for rice, fatty fish, malted milk, kiwi fruit, tart juice, and nuts. Research suggest that the latter category of meals can improve sleep.
