What is the best CBD method used for severe chronic back pain caused by Scoliosis?
Asked 4 years ago
Obviously, I am on some prescription pain killers, but they do little except dull the pain a tad. I am now on the hunt for alternative treatments or remedies. Can anyone suggest or recommend a CBD oil method for chronic back pain due to Scoliosis?

Scoliosis occurs when the spine curves due to excess pressure on the spinal disc or strained muscles at the back. Scoliosis is common mainly at the chest level and the lower back. It is most common in children, but can also occur in adults. In children, it doesn't necessarily need any treatment. In most adults, pain reliefs like aspirin and ibuprofen are first prescribed for back pains. If they fail, narcotic opioids like morphine, codeine are prescribed. However, these narcotics are known to cause addiction in most individuals. This is why many persons suffering from chronic back pain are advised to take CBD instead.
Recent studies say that CBD has both anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties. Unlike opioids, CBD is not addictive, it is not a psychoactive substance too. The psychoactive element in marijuana is THC, not CBD. Although some CBD products contain THC, just in a small amount (about 0.3% in full-spectrum CBD, trace or no THC in broad-spectrum, no THC at all in isolates). If you want to avoid THC totally, you can go for isolates.
CBD can also be fortified with other ingredients that can produce additional pain reliefs. Opiates like codeine, morphine etc. can be added to CBD in lower doses to provide additional pain relief. Terpenes like Eucalyptol and Bisabolol can be added to reduce inflammation. Menthols and camphor also provide additional pain reliefs. When shopping for CBD for pain, you should check for these ingredients.
CBD can be taken using various methods. It can be taken as tinctures or as gummies. It can also be applied directly to the skin. Tinctures provide higher bioavailability than gummies since Tinctures are placed under the tongue. Gummies on the other hand provide an easy way to take CBD. However, if the pain is located in a certain area, I will advise you to apply CBD topically on the place you feel pain. It is not clear how much the CBD penetrates the skin, but studies show that those who use CBD topically for pain report faster relief.
Lastly, it is important to get a high-quality CBD product. Avoid prices that are too good to be true and go for well renowned CBD companies in your state. Also, search for an independent laboratory test result before getting any CBD product. Companies with consistently good results are proud to show them. You can find these results on their websites.
Please do not take CBD along with your prescription medications. See a doctor before you do so as taking CBD along with other medications can lead to further complications. Do not stop your current medications to take CBD except advised by your doctor. Your doctor can also advise you on dosage, the key is to start slowly then gradually increase. CBD for scoliosis and other back pains hold a lot of promise but more studies need to be done before CBD can be confirmed as a safe and potent treatment for back pains like scoliosis.
