Calculating the Correct Dosage of CBD
With so many different people claiming how their specific dosage of CBD cured their ailments, it can be difficult to know what dosage you should be using. Although there is no strict set of guidelines per illness, there are some things that can help you figure out where to begin.
You Cannot Overdose on CBD
Luckily, all adverse effects relating to cannabis intake stem from overconsumption of THC, the psychoactive compound of cannabis. This means it's essentially impossible to overdose on CBD-specific products, be it capsules, oil, or any other method of consumption.
CBD Has No Strict Guidelines for Dosing
Unfortunately, given the infancy of CBD research, there is no set of specific guidelines that determine what dosages will be the most beneficial for each illness. It comes down to a lot of trial and error that depends on the user's own body and their ideal combination of plant varieties and dosages.
Where Should You Begin With CBD?
There is light at the end of the tunnel, however. Due to CBD's low-risk factor, there isn't a need for prior testing to determine whether or not you might experience adverse effects. Most patients use less than 100mg/day to treat even severe symptoms, yet studies have shown that even outrageously high doses of up to 1500mg/day are tolerated well by humans.
Depending on the severity of the symptoms, you should start small (around 20-40 mg/day) and work your way up from there, increasing the dose by 5mg each week until your symptoms become manageable. Most CBD products will have the concentration of CBD listed on the label. For instance, CBD oil would come with a dropper that tells you how much CBD is in one drop, or gummies would tell you how much is in each gummy.
It only becomes difficult when smoking or vaping the flowers, but in most instances, you can assume that 0.3 grams of a flower with a 20% CBD content contain 10-20mg per puff.
