Can taking naps during the day affect deep sleep at night?
Asked 2 years ago
I like taking short naps during the day, but my wife says that taking naps in the afternoon is the reason why I'm having trouble falling asleep later. Is she right? I know naps don't really count toward sleep hours, but can they affect my deep sleep at all? Does it matter when I take them?

Naps in themselves do not affect your sleep quality. However, its effect on your body can change depending on when you nap. Experts suggest that napping after 2 p.m. may affect your ability to fall asleep later at night since the afternoon nap may include deep sleep. Contrarily, napping before 2 p.m. should not affect your sleep cycle and quality.
